Here We Go!
May 5, 2006
Today it begins. Yes, today we officially launch the Sheldon Church of Christ website to the world. And that also means that today I write my first blog ever. So here I go occasionally sharing my thoughts and ideas with you.
Today, I can’t help but wonder about God’s immense grace and God’s call on me to share it. 1 Peter 4:10 says, “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” We always use this verse to focus on using the gifts that God has given us. But how often do you look at you day and think about how you are administering God’s immense grace?
It’s a bit overwhelming for me to think about sharing a grace that always goes to the extreme. This grace of God caused Jesus to leave the comforts of heaven to the hard realities of earth. This grace caused God to be faithful to a nation that could never stay faithful. This grace caused caused Jesus to go to the torturous cross. This grace went after my disobedient heart and continues to pursue recklessly the hearts of others. I look at the dedication that God has in giving unmerited favor to whomever and I wonder how I am going to administer that same Grace.
Fortunately, God says we can do it through the gifts he has given us. So whether you gift is talking or serving, encouraging or teaching, praying or fixing, we are to use it adminstering God’s grace. So I guess the question I ask myself and you is, “Do people see the Grace of God in what you do or do they just see what you do?”
